Indian women cricketer “Deepti Sharma” is among 29 sportspeople, who conquered the “Arjuna Award” on August 29, 2020.

And award holder’s name announced by President “Ram Nath Kovind” virtually due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Who is She?

Deepti Bhagwan Sharma born on 24 August 1997 in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. She is a cricketer who plays for the Indian women’s national cricket team.

She is an all-rounder player who bats Left-handed and bowls right-arm off break and currently ranked 4th among the top all-rounders within the ICC Cricket Rankings.

Deepti Sharma the third-highest individual cricketer in ODIs to score (188 runs).

Deepti Sharma is the youngest daughter of Sushilaa and Bhagwan Sharma. Her father may be a retired chief booking supervisor with the Indian Railways.

She developed an interest in the game of cricket at an early age of 9.

Deepti may be a part of an elite club of under-20 players with 150s to their names which no has male cricketer has done so far. She is the only woman on this team.

Deepti quoted, “I worked hard from the very beginning and my family always supported me throughout. I was expecting it and today I received it. It’s a very proud moment for me.”


Speaking about what it means to win such an award and her future plans, she said, “After this, the player’s responsibility increases to do even better for the country. It was my dream to urge my name added within the list of the recipient of this award.”
